BREAKING BARRIERS 

Wilma Rudolph broke barriers by winning three gold medals in the 1960 Olympics with three world record times. One thing that lead Wilma to break barriers is that she overcame much illness all before the age of six; spotted fever, pneumonia, and polio. Overcoming these illnesses showed her determination. Additionally, at the time they did not have hospitals open for people of color. Wilma's mom had to drive 3 hours to get to a colored hospital. ​Overall Wilma Rudolph overcame many struggles, always determined to push forth and do her best.
